Low cost airlines...worth the savings?

On a recent trip, I flew with two budget airlines—one from the US and the other from Mexico. So, was it worth the savings?
Well, it really depends on what you're after! If you're all about saving money, then sure, it might be worth it. But you've got to travel light and not expect any extras, even when it comes to picking your seat. If you're traveling with a group, you might not sit together, and that's something you'll need to be okay with.
For us, we had bags to check, and we wanted at least one parent sitting with our autistic son. The extra costs for luggage and seat selection just kept piling up! Each airline had its own fees, and nothing carried over between them.
So for my family, it would've been easier and cheaper to go with a regular airline that includes more stuff instead of paying for all those extras. But if you're traveling solo or with a buddy and just have a backpack, a low-cost airline might be perfect for you!
