Missing your connecting flight in Cancun? Don't panic, embrace the adventure! Book a hotel in the vibrant Hotel Zone, kick back, and enjoy a fabulous night!

Recently, while traveling to Cancun, we missed our connecting flight (I'll share that thrilling tale in a future post!) and had to wait until the next morning for the next flight out.

Instead of getting upset, I excitedly told my husband that we were booking a hotel for the night. Since he works part-time at a Hilton hotel, we could snag their awesome teammate rate! I quickly hopped online and found the Canopy by Hilton La Isla offering a fantastic deal. It's perfectly located in the Hotel Zone, just a breezy 20-minute taxi ride from the airport.

Upon arriving at the hotel, it was situated on a bustling road, but I reserved judgment until we stepped inside. Wow, what a stunning lobby! The staff was super friendly, our luggage was taken care of (even hung up in our room!), and the lobby was beautifully decked out for Christmas. The staff enthusiastically shared all about the area and hotel amenities, including a rooftop restaurant and bar with a swimming pool.

After settling in, we ventured to La Isla Plaza, a chic outdoor shopping mall right next to the hotel. We explored some shops and enjoyed a delightful lunch at Taqueria Los Chachalacos. This charming spot offered delicious Mexican food and fantastic drinks!

Back at the hotel, the boys wanted to unwind, so I headed to the rooftop with my Kindle, indulging in drinks while basking in the breathtaking sunset. It was the perfect way to soothe the stress of travel.

The boys joined me for a late-night dinner on the rooftop, and then it was time to rest up for the morning flight! All in all, it was an incredible night in Cancun, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting who might prefer something beyond the typical all-inclusive resort experience.
